Southern charm comes to Paris for a bright and colorful photo session

When Kathryn first contacted me about a couples Paris photo session, I was so happy to hear from her. She told me she and her husband live in Fort Worth, Texas, so I jokingly said, “I can’t wait to meet y’all” and she laughed and said she was originally from Alabama. I’ve driven through Alabama several times enroute to Florida, and each time I crossed the state line and flipped on the car radio, “Sweet Home Alabama” by the amazing Lynyrd Skynyrd, was playing. I’m not even making that up. Since I love that band and the song, I always felt at home Alabama.

Kathryn made me feel at home also, even im Paris. Her sunny and bright demeanor was absolutely delightful and her husband Kevin was the same. A sweet and kind couple I had the good fortune to meet!

We met at Trocadero, which is the most famous viewing spot at the Eiffel Tower. I loved Kathryn’s colorful and summary mustard dress, with its fun and feminine ruffles at the shoulder. Kevin looked effortlessly handsome.

As you can see, I try to pay attention to detail. Sometimes, when trying to photograph a couple with a view of the Eiffel Tower, as I’m far away, I can’t always see little details like a hair tie on a wrist, a flyaway hair, or a bunched up shirt. Most times you can’t see those things prominently in a photograph with the Eiffel Tower, but it’s always a good idea to check out your partner and re-adjust as required.

Kathryn and Kevin were like a model couple. They are so comfortable with each other that every move they made was effortless. This is not the case for most couples, but don’t worry, that’s where I try to help by putting you at ease and giving some pointers for natural looking poses.

I’m so thrilled that the fountains were on this day, they are only on for a few months’, but when they are I take full advantage of their beauty.

We also utilized one of the iconic green Paris park benches for my favorite green photo of the Eiffel Tower, which is where some very green and leafy trees frame the famous monument.

I so enjoy photographing this couple and in the time we were together learned more about them and their life in Texas. At the end of the photo session, we headed across the street to an iconic Paris cafe, where Kathryn and Kevin ordered two cafe au laits and a croissant to share.

Nothing more Parisian than a coffee on the terrace

Some visitors to Paris absolutely love the variety of having photos with the Eiffel Tower but also something traditionally Parisian. What could be more Parisian than a terrace on a cafe?

I have to admit, I really love photographing Parisian life from a terrace. It’s really fun for me to capture. I like details, and the look of the coffee with a flakey croissant and a pretty couple just makes me happy. I often photograph at one of the cafes at Trocadero, lately it's been Cafe Kléber, as they have a nice terrace. On a Monday morning dozens of people were streaming out of the metro station on their way to work. I am surprised each time I photograph here by the amount of people who stop and wait when they realized I'm taking photographs. Would you see that in New York City? I don't think so! Paris can sometimes be a cold and rude place, but it can also be a very kind and polite place, which is why I love it. Or maybe I've just become Parisian myself!

If you'd love a photo session of you and your loved one in Paris, at the Eiffel Tower, on a terrace...the possibilities are endless! Check out the Picture Me Paris photo packages here.
