Red hot anniversary photo session at the Eiffel Tower
Red hot anniversary photo session at the Eiffel Tower
This was a red hot anniversary photo session at the Eiffel Tower! In more ways than one.
First, there was her red outfit, on fire (loved it!).
Then, there was the true passion I felt between this couple.
And lastly, the beautiful Paris sun really heated up this anniversary photo session at the Eiffel Tower.
Monique and her husband of 28 years, Arnold, were coming to Paris in September. Monique planned well ahead for her Picture Me Paris photo session, all the way back in February. It was super excited to finally meet them. We met at Trocadero, the most popular spot for photography with the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This spot has a killer view of the world's most famous manmade monument. In fact, many of my clients are shocked when they arrive to see just how many photo sessions are going on. From across the way I could see a tall couple, and I walked toward them. My first thought upon seeing them was, wow, that couple is sharp looking. Indeed, to my delight, it was Monique and Arnold!
Monique looked like a model, Tall and svelte, she wore the most beautiful red jumpsuit, with intricate lace detail, that showed off her gorgeous figure. She looked like a million bucks. I was taken aback with Arnold! His suit was one of the nicest I've ever seen, just a gorgeous color and accented with a red tie, to match Monique's outfit. Arnold is also tall and strong, really handsome and a man with real presence. The two of them are a couple that turn heads wherever they go. This is a great example of how getting a little dressed up for your Picture Me Paris photo session is always a great idea. Paris is an elegant town, the monuments and gardens scream out for "wear something nice!". Even in winter, you can wear a super cute coat and hat. It always looks great, too, when you can coordinate your outfit with your significant other. Not that you want to look like twins, but just like Monique and Arnold did, a tiny pop of color on Arnold's suit coordinated perfectly with Monique's outfit.
After I got done oohing and aahing over how sharp this couple was, I set about photographing them in all of my favorite scenic spots. It was an absolute delight. I understand more than anyone how uncomfortable it can be in front of a camera. That's why I do my very best to make you feel comfortable, give you pointers, and have you try things that maybe feel unnatural, but look amazing and romantic in photos.
The other thing I run into a lot is the men not being so keen on having photos. Sometimes it's the woman who doesn't like photos, but most often it's the men. I completely understand. On the other hand, having this kind of souvenir from Paris with the person you love is something you're never, ever going to regret.
You see, as we get older, our memories become even more precious to us. You'll look back on the places you visited together and after you've eaten all the croissants, downed all of the coffees, and trekked to the Eiffel Tower and to the Louvre to see Mona Lisa, what do you have left? Your beautiful memories in portraits from your time in Paris. It may seem unimportant at the time, but especially if you're celebrating a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon or engagement, it's time and money very well spent.
That said, I try to make things fun, light, cheery and conversational. And entirely painless. I"m not a photographer that makes you stand in one spot for a super long time, just trying to get the perfect shot. I'm a professional, and I spend most of my days at the Eiffel Tower. Yes, lighting conditions vary, but I know how to deal with all of it in an efficient manner, so that we maximize our time and that you and your loved one do not get bored.
Eiffel Tower is not just Trocadero
Most photographers stay at the Trocadero area of the Eiffel Tower, but I'm not one of them. I'm a bit hyper-active you could say and I love to move. That's why it's a great idea to pack some flat shoes as we may possibly go to other points with great and unique views of the Eiffel Tower. After we did some beautiful portraits of Monique and Arnold at Trocadero, we walked over to Avenue Camoens, for some really unique views of the Eiffel Tower, and then to the bridge of Bir Hakeim. The early September light was strong but also had an ethereal effect. It was just beautiful and you can see the love Monique and Arnold have for each other in each and every image.
During our time together, we talked about Paris, New York (where they go all the time, living in Newark), travel, culture, and of course, living in France. I enjoy chatting with my clients just as much as I love photographing them and creating amazing memories. Everyone has a story, we all have a connection to each other, and honestly, clients often become friends. I'm incredibly indebted to Monique and Arnold for including me in their Paris adventure, and for the honor of not only photographing them, but getting to know them a bit as the wonderful people they are.
