Romantic and intimate Paris honeymoon photo session at the Eiffel Tower
This Paris honeymoon photo session at the Eiffel Tower was so romantic and passionate, it nearly made my camera lens melt! Beautiful warm winter weather and bathed in golden morning sunlight. We were so fortunate for February! Shaun and Lilja were married last year. This couple was so kind and easy going, I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed their honeymoon session!
Shaun is from the west coast of the United States. A few years’ ago he was on vacation in Iceland. Thanks to the popularity of Instagram, Iceland is now a destination on a lot of people’s radar (myself included). A gorgeous country with beautiful sights, Shaun found his eyes resting on beautiful Lilja at a restaurant he was visiting on his trip. Their eyes met. The rest, as they say, is history.
A great Paris holiday
Most couples come to Paris for just a day or two. They have little time to see the important sights because there is so much to see in Paris, much more than people realize. I asked the couple their favorite spot in Paris so far, and Lilja told me she loved the Saint Chapelle gothic cathedral. Its famous for its stained glass windows and really takes your breath away. We were in agreement, as I had the very same reaction the first time I stepped inside Saint Chapelle.
Shaun told me they had also gone to the very top of the Eiffel Tower, a place I’ve not ventured as I’m a wee bit afraid of heights. The best I can do is the second level, and even that is pushing it.
It’s Paris Fashion Week!
I always get a little worried about photographing couples at the Eiffel Tower during the famous Paris Fashion Week, which happens in February and September. At Trocadero, the most popular spot for Eiffel Tower photography, a huge village is built by Yves St Laurent (YSL) and it obscures the fountains and views of the Eiffel Tower, particularly today when the village was being deconstructed. There were cranes everywhere, and despite Shaun telling me he has great Photoshop skills, I didn’t want to chance it. Instead, I photographed them on the grassy part of Trocadero and then we went to my favorite spot—riverside for some early morning peace and quiet and romance.
From there, we walked to the beautiful double decker bridge called Bir Hakeim. The golden light was simply gorgeous and as I said above, the love this couple has for each other was so sweet and intense, it almost made my camera lens melt. It was so romantic, at times I felt like a voyeur but afterward I thought, how amazing to be so in love like this, it really makes my heart soar!
It was such a pleasure to meet Shauna and Lilja, and their future looks full of love and light, a perfectly matched pair, deeply in love. I wish them so much happiness, and I hoped they truly enjoyed their Paris honeymoon photo session!
