Hollywood glam in Paris
Hollywood comes to Paris
Old, glamorous Hollywood, that’s what I kept thinking as I was working with this stunning lady! Serena is a physician’s assistant from North Carolina, who was visiting Paris. Serena wanted to do a photo shoot at the Eiffel Tower, and I was more than happy to photograph her. The first thing that jumped into my head was Carrie Bradshaw, because she was so fashionable. She had the prettiest tulle skirt in such a pretty color, black top, the cutest Parisienne black hat you’ve ever seen. Oh, and and some gorgeous Christian Louboutin heel and a pretty black Chanel handbag as accessories.
Accessories can really bring out the best in any Paris photo shoot, and Serena also brought along an adorable pair of black sunglasses in the shape of a heart. So cute!
Just be yourself
A lot of women I photograph are self conscious, and I totally understand that. I am as well. Serena was so confident, it was really evident as we worked together, but I have some tips for those of you who would like to be photographed but are a bit afraid.
First off, your photos are for you. They are for fun, for a great memory of Paris. Maybe you have a blog, and would like some photos for it, or a business. Or, maybe you just want some great Paris memories, which are not easy to do with a selfie stick.
The thought of hiring a professional photographer to some people feels a bit self indulgent and wasteful. But really, it’s not. It’s money well spent because you deserve to spend money on yourself sometimes. We as ladies take care of our families, our co-workers, and usually put most everyone and everything before ourselves. You truly deserve to take just a little time out of your life, particularly if you’re in Paris, to have some fun and create some lasting memories.
After all, you aren’t in Paris every day. Today is the youngest you will be and what could be more precious than looking back on ourselves at a time where we felt great, were having fun, and happy? It’s really a worthwhile thing to do, particularly in Paris!
If you’re feeling self conscious, don’t worry, I’ll give you suggestions for poses, you won’t believe how amazing you can look with just a little guidance and a willingness to experiment.
Bring whichever props you want—flowers, sunglasses, scarves, hats, macarons, champagne. I can put you in touch with a professional makeup artist too, if you’d like to get your makeup done professionally, like Serena did.
Then for wardrobe! There are a number of companies that rent gowns in Paris, and even if you’re from the United States, there are gown rental shops online like Rent the Runway. You can opt for a glamorous look and then switch later to a casual look. It’s your photo experience, and the most important thing is that you feel great in what you’re wearing!
Paris is a moveable feast
Writer Ernest Hemingway said that Paris was a moveable feast, and he couldn’t have been more right. There are so many wonderful places to do photography in Paris, Naturally, the Eiffel Tower is on the top of most people’s lists, but there are other great places too!
