A heavenly pastel Quinceañera photo session in Paris

This was a heavenly pastel Quinceañera photo session in Paris! Why heavenly? Because our young lady, Brittny, looked like an angel. And a princess. All rolled into one. I’d been contacted by Brittny’s mom, Maria, many months in advance about a photographing her daughter for Quinceañera in Paris. The family was traveling to Paris together in September, and thought it would be a wonderful family event, something really memorable.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, I absolutely love Quinceañera! I grew up in the Midwest of the United States, and I’ll admit, coming from an Irish-German family, I had no idea what Quinceañera was. I also had no idea what Sweet 16 was, as none of my friends did that in the Midwest. I don’t know, maybe I was too busy on the farm helping my dad, or picking vegetables in the garden, to think about the mysterious female rites of passage. But then I moved to California, and had many friends from Mexico, and began to learn more about Hispanic culture (and started taking Spanish lessons too, so I could speak with my friend’s mother) and became more interested in learning about the culture. I was fortunate in California to work with people from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. I felt welcomed like family with these co-workers, and they shared their traditions with me, and one of them was Quinceañera. There’s something so special about it, it’s a bit of pageantry, I love the beautiful gowns, the elegance of the young women, and the strong family bonds that I see.

There also is no more beautiful city in the world to photograph Quinceañera than Paris, I’m sure of that. Yes, there are beautiful cities all across the globe, but Paris is really something special.

We were blessed with really mild temperatures and blue skies. This of course is a dream day in Paris, but for those of you coming other times of year, late autumn and winter, for example, Paris is still beautiful. You’ll likely be dealing with some rain showers, but that’s very Parisian, and nothing to worry about. A cute coat over a Quinceañera dress and a clear umbrella, and you’re good to go.

I met Brittny and her mother Maria, father and friendly brother at the Trocadero area of the Eiffel Tower. Brittny and her family live in Massachusetts, in the United States, and her family originally comes from El Salvador.

It was super busy preparing for Paris Fashion Week events, but with a little patience we were able to get some beautiful photos of the Eiffel Tower. Brittny is a beautiful young lady, with long, dark hair (the kind I always wished I had), and she had the most beautiful pastel, pale gown. It was sort of a pinkish peach color, maybe you’d call it champagne, and it was so pretty on Brittny. It was adorned with small sequins and was very elegant. Brittny also wore a tiara and accessorized with delicate earrings that matched her dress, as well as a pretty ring. She also carried a Quinceañera scepter, with the number 15 hanging from it. I really loved this beautiful touch.

Brittny’s heels reminded me of the Ruby Slippers from Wizard of Oz, except they were silver. They were so cute, I kept thinking that if she clicked her heels three times, maybe Toto the dog would appear. I don’t know about you, but I loved Toto the dog from the Wizard of Oz movie.

Quinceañera in Paris is also beautiful celebrated with family, so in addition to photos of Brittny, we incorporated some family memories as well, which was quite nice. After Trocadero, we went to the riverside for a super close-up view of the Eiffel Tower, and then headed east to the Tuileries Gardens, which were in full bloom. A few photos in the garden, and with a view of the Louvre, and our Quinceañera photo session in Paris was complete. It was an honor and treasure to work with Brittny, her mother Maria and her father and brother in Paris.

Is your family coming to Paris? Would you love a Quinceañera photo session in Paris for your young lady? A Quinceañera photo session in Paris is really something to treasure for a lifetime. I know I sounded like an old lady when I told Brittny how she’d look back on these photos many years from now and remember this perfect day in Paris. But it’s true!
