Beautiful rainy engagement session in Paris

Beautiful rainy engagement session in Paris. The night before this beautiful rainy engagement session in Paris in late November, Lloyd got on one knee and popped the question to the love of his life, Amy, under the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower. It was a truly magical moment for this couple from the U.S. visiting Paris and I was so happy to be a part of it! You can check out photos of their surprise proposal here.

Lloyd had also scheduled an engagement session for the next day. Just one short hour, it’s a wonderful add-on for any Paris surprise proposal. Amy looked like a million bucks the night before, she and Lloyd had a wonderful French dinner to celebrate their engagement. But sometimes, as is the nature of the surprise proposal beast, the lady isn’t photo ready for her surprise proposal, so an engagement session the following day that she knows about is a great idea, because then she can be confident she’s photo ready.

As Lloyd had already proposed with a view of the Eiffel Tower, the couple selected the intricate architecture of the Louvre Museum as their engagement photo location. What a great idea it was!

Unfortunately, the 10% chance of rain that was forecast for the next morning turned into a 100% chance of rain. This is typical of Paris weather, a lot of people don’t realize how rainy Paris is. London gets all the press with the rain and fog, but Paris is just as rainy. But no worries at all, all you need is an umbrella and a bit of patience! If you’re visiting between the months of October and April, it’s always a good idea to have an umbrella along with you for any stray showers.

Lloyd and Amy arrived to the Louvre and it was really cold and really wet. Luckily, we had a bit of cover in the Louvre corridor, although it was challenging as the tourists were there trying to stay out of the rain also. I have this fantasy that I have all of Paris to myself, without any tourists in the images, and in fact, due to the fact I try to shoot all my Paris engagement sessions in the earlier morning hours before the tourists come out, I don’t often have many people in the images. Sometimes I have to use special professional photographer techniques to ensure that Paris engagement photos look like it’s just you and your loved one in Paris alone. Most of the time it works, sometimes there will be a person or two in the background, but it’s rare. That’s why it’s so important to hire a professional photographer in Paris, someone who knows the locations, the times of day, the angles, and how to photograph couples professionally for really dreamy engagement photos.

The rain in Paris often comes and goes, and we were able to pop out into the courtyard for some beautiful shots with the famous Louvre pyramid, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. Then, onto my favorite spot, the Tuileries Gardens, with a view of the Louvre in the background. Even though it’s now late fall and the leaves are long gone, this row of trees with the majestic Louvre behind it are a sight to behold!

It was so fun working with Lloyd and Amy, in fact it wasn’t work at all, it was lovely getting to know them and chat with them. They are a fun and dynamic couple and will have an amazing married life together. Congratulations Lloyd and Amy!

If you’re coming to Paris and would love to have a surprise proposal or a Paris engagement session, if you’re already engaged, I’m here for you!
