A family vow renewal in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower
A family vow renewal in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower, nothing could be more special or sweet! Raquel contacted me about the vow renewal she wanted to do with her husband, Paul, and her two young daughters. She planned to have their family vow renewal with a view of the Eiffel Tower. I suggested the riverside location as a spot that was somewhat private, beautiful, and of course with a great view of this famous landmark.I was so excited to meet this family from the United States and create a really memorable morning with them, capturing their love in photographs.
Years ago, renewing marriage vows had become a bit of a trend. Then, it seemed to wane. Now, vow renewals are back, and seen as a meaningful way to reaffirm the marriage vows, and celebrate the fact that through thick and thin, in good times and in bad, marriage is a commitment, but a very worthwhile one.
I met this friendly family at the Trocadero area of the Eiffel Tower, and then we walked to the river side spot. When Raquel arrived I was stunned with the beauty and elegance of her dress. Her little girls also looked adorable. I’m always in awe of moms who not only look amazing themselves, but the rest of their family does as well. Getting children ready for photographs is never a simple task. It’s also not so easy sometimes to keep them engaged, but I do my very best for every Paris vow renewal, so that the children are as much a part of the vow renewal ceremony as the husband and wife. While Raquel looked stunning in her gown, her husband Paul looked dashing in his suit.
I had so much fun chatting with Raquel and Paul during our entire morning together, learning more about their lives and I could feel the love this family has for each other very strongly. Some visitors who would love a Paris vow renewal select an officiant, or celebrant for their ceremony, I find an officiant brings a lot of meaning to the ceremony and allows the couple to concentrate on each other. Some visitors prefer a more DIY approach. Raquel found some beautiful products online for their vow renewal, and they used these as the basis for their ceremony.
During the ceremony, it was hard for me not to reach for a tissue to dab my eyes, as their words to each other and the involvement of their daughters was extremely touching and emotional. This is why I love my job so much! After the renewal, we celebrated family with some images at Notre Dame Cathedral and the Ile St Louis. At the time of our vow renewal in Paris, Notre Dame had not yet been damaged by the fire of the roof, which took place in April of 2019. I keep these photos and this beautiful vow renewal story on my blog to cherish the memories of Notre Dame and to look forward to the future and the big celebration, when the cathedral and adjacent gardens are re-opened.
My profound thanks to this beautiful family for including me in their special day in Paris. I so enjoyed meeting them, chatting with them, and of course capturing these images which I hope they will treasure forever.
