A surprise proposal
My time with Visar and Tarina, a gorgeous couple from the United States, started on a special morning at Trocadero, which has an amazing overall view of the Eiffel Tower. Visar had contacted me, explaining he wanted to propose to his longtime girlfriend while they were in Paris. So we worked out a plan to meet at Trocadero, and there, he got on one knee and asked Tarina to be his wife. She said yes!
When you book a surprise proposal with Picture Me Paris, you have several options. Some clients like the idea of just capturing the surprise proposal itself with a few images afterward to remember the special moment. Other clients opt to add on an hour-long engagement session, which can be done the same day or on another day after the surprise proposal.
Visar selected an engagement session as well, and we made plans to meet a few days’ later. This gave Tarina time to pick out her engagement photos outfit, do her hair, and all the other things a lot of women really love to do when they know they’re being photographed.
Engagement day on the Pont Alexandre
When I saw Visar and Tarina approaching me on the other side of the bridge, wow, it was impressive! They had really dressed up for the occasion, Visar in a smart blue suit and Tarina in a lovely rose colored dress, with a tweed coat. They had selected the bridge because they loved its beauty, and what a good choice! Since we met early in the morning, there was hardly anyone on the bridge, it’s like we had the place to ourselves.
This has long been my favorite bridge in Paris because it’s ornate with golden statues, and cherubs galore. Who doesn’t like a cherub? I’ve loved this bridge since I was a teenager and saw it the first time. It’s the perfect spot for engagement or wedding photography in Paris, and I’ve done a few surprise proposals on this bridge as well, as there is a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
Many options at the Pont Alexandre bridge
The bridge itself is beautiful to photograph on the walkway, of course, but also facing another direction you have the background of the Grand Palais, and a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. There are many vantage points for capturing the beauty of of the bridge. One of my favorite things to do as well is to go down closer to the Seine River and photograph the bridge from a different vantage point. There’s all sorts of interesting details here as well, such as an ornate door with seashells and the grand staircase. At this time in the morning, no one was out, so we had the staircase to ourselves. We were able to photograph a variety of locations and bridge scenery.
My favorite thing was when Tarina asked if they could dance, and I could capture it, as they love to dance. On this bridge it was elegance personified!
Let’s take a walk to the Place de la Concorde
One of the things I love about spring in Paris is that all the fountains are again on. I think my favorite fountains in Paris are at the Place de la Concorde. We were really close from the Pont Alexandre, so we went on a little walk, and I captured this stunning engaged couple in front of the fountain, which are among my favorite images from the day. It was so fun, I didn’t want to let them go, I could have photographed them all day!
